After Michael’s apprenticeship in the late 1970’s, he spent 3 years training with an Italian master craftsman in Toronto creating exclusive furniture for very discerning clients including a Birdseye maple TV cabinet for Princess Diana and a black walnut bed for Conrad Black. While he valued those phenomenal assignments, he gets as much satisfaction from helping everyday people incorporate functional art into their lives.
Subsequently, Michael worked as a finish carpenter on exclusive renovation projects where he could incorporate his furniture building techniques, often involving details like curves, one of his signature skills. Since then he has merged his love of elegant design and woodworking, to fashion unique, sought-after items reflecting his clients’ ideals.
Michael will work collaboratively with a client to properly articulate that client's vision for a project. He draws upon his wealth of experience and expertise from modern technologies to hand-tool techniques to assist in that process. Yet the completed project will always be true to the client’s original dream.
Michael is looking forward to being part of your next project.
